Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

This classic school textbook, first published in 1939, contains the essential 1000 most common Greek words, ideal for students taking GCSE or A-level Greek. It provides a comprehensive vocabulary with all the words that a beginning student of ancient Greek will need to know.

Its distinctive advantages are that, although alphabetically arranged, many words are set alongside synonyms, antonyms and English derivatives to assist with memorisation and vocabulary building. Interrogative, relative and demonstrative adverbs and pronouns, prepositions, particles, conjunctions and numerals have been excluded from the main vocabulary and grouped together at the end of the book, where there is also a table of the principal parts or irregular verbs.

For students learning over two years, the most common words are indicated with an asterisk so they can be mastered in the first year.
