Book Hero Magic crafted this summary to help describe this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Summary
Catch-22 by Joseph Heller is a satirical novel set during World War II, following Captain John Yossarian, a U.S. Army Air Forces bombardier, as he grapples with the absurdities and bureaucratic nightmare of war. The plot centres on Yossarian's desperate attempts to maintain his sanity and survive amidst the illogical rules and contradictions imposed by military authorities. The term "Catch-22" highlights the no-win dilemmas faced by soldiers, particularly the paradox of being considered insane if one desires to escape dangerous missions, yet proving sanity if one recognises the peril and seeks to avoid it.
