Cocktails with Molotov and Tea with Mr. Lee

Bernard Brown taught law at the University of Auckland for over forty years, including to ex-Prime Ministers David Lange and Winston Peters. This book is an entertaining romp through Brown's wartime and post-war experiences before arriving in NZ. It includes his meetings with such formidable figures as Margaret Thatcher and author Anthony Burgess.

"My supervisor for the criminal papers was the wonderful Bernard Brown. There was something dashing and intriguing about Bernard. He was funny, he wrote poetry, he had an edge to him which made him unlikely ever to be Dean of the Law School." - David Lange, My Life "Bernard Brown's poetry is wise, wicked, witty and absolutely wonderful." - Kevin Ireland

Bernard Brown lived through WWII in Suffolk, England, where he was strafed by bullets from a German Dornier aeroplane; dived to fetch sculpturing clay for a young Lucian Freud; went to school with the notorious gangsters, the Kray brothers; and had a close encounter with the Jimmy Savile of the era, 'Uncle Mac' at the BBC.

As a young man, he met with Margaret Thatcher and later with famous authors such as Anthony Burgess and Han Suyin (author of Love is a Many-Splendored Thing), with whom he fell in love.

Cocktails with Molotov is an entertaining romp through Brown's wartime and post-war activities. After finishing his RAF service in Singapore in the 1950s, he studied law before emigrating to New Zealand. He has taught law at the University of Auckland ever since, including teaching such well-known figures as ex-Prime Minister David Lange and Winston Peters.

Cocktails with Molotov is his seventh published book.
