The Heat
The Heat by Garry Disher follows Wyatt, a character in need and on the lookout for a lucrative job. A bank heist or a security van hold-up would fit the bill, as long as he can avoid working with arrogant amateurs or unstable meth-heads like the Pepper brothers.
Wyatt reaches out to a reliable contact from his past who has guided him towards the right kind of heist. This leads him to Noosa, where he is tasked with stealing a painting for Hannah Sten. Wyatt expertly navigates the job, knowing how to carefully case the premises, set up escape routes, establish failsafes, and execute the job smoothly and anonymously.
The question looms: who is his client, and why do they want that painting? The job may be complicated by unseen players and rival interests. Ultimately, even meticulous planning might not be enough in a world where trust is scarce and motivations are obscured.
Book Hero Magic summarised reviews for this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! HOW HAS THIS BEEN REVIEWED?
Garry Disher's The Heat is praised for its spare, taut prose and masterful narrative pacing. Critics applaud Disher's ability to create a compelling anti-hero and gripping, action-driven plot.
