A Star Is Scorned
A Star Is Scorned
A Star Is Scorned brings together the glamour of Gilded-Age Hollywood with the charm of a Christina Lauren storyline in the latest of Maureen Lee Lenker's 1930s rom-coms. When movie star and notorious womaniser Flynn Banks finds his reputation in serious trouble, his studio insists he publicly date his new co-star, Liv De Lesseps, to salvage itโexcept Liv might swashbuckle her way into his heart for real.
Flynn Banks, the incorrigible reprobate and silver-screen swashbuckler, enjoys all the fame, booze, and dames he could possibly want. However, when a past dalliance accuses him of jilting her at the altar (he would never!), he must quickly revamp his image in the eyes of the Production Code office, who have the power over what makes it onto movie screens. Much to his dismay, the studio decides heโll pretend to date his new co-star, the rather prim yet beautiful Liv De Lesseps.
Livvy isnโt delighted with this arrangement, either. Acting isn't exactly her dream. Yet, to ensure her younger sister has a chance at pursuing her dancing dreams and to keep a roof over their heads, she feels compelled to comply with the studio's demands. The complication arises when Flynn Banks, her girlhood crush, becomes hard to resist with his on-screen allure that once made her swoon. But Flynn has vowed never to commit to anyone for more than an evening. Can they maintain this pretence without it falling apartโor breaking each otherโs hearts?
