Description
Tower Dungeon 1 by Tsutomu Nihei marks his first foray into the fantasy genre. Known for his work on series like Blame! and Knights of Sidonia, Nihei crafts a gritty, dark fantasy world teeming with evil sorcerers and unique undead horrors.
The story follows the ingenuous farmboy Yuva, who must accompany a contingent of knights through the increasingly perilous floors of a massive tower on their quest to rescue the princess. Nihei applies his unique sensibility to create a world filled with malformed creatures, wounded soldiers, and labyrinthine darkness.
An evil necromancer has slain the king and abducted his daughter, secreting her away in the legendary Dragon Tower. To save the princess, her loyal Royal Guard lays siege to the stronghold, but the path is obstructed by powerful eldritch creatures. In the face of mounting casualties, they enlist ordinary villagers to join their forces, including Yuvaβa sturdy young farmboy with no battle experience, armed only with a battered old helm and wooden shield.
With Tower Dungeon 1, Tsutomu Nihei brings his masterful storytelling and architectural perspective to create a dark, gritty tale of swords and sorcery, blending bravery and adventure with the clash of great heroes and ultimate evil.
