The sky above war-torn Europe was ablaze during the third week of February 1944, as the combined Allied air forces launched an unprecedented round-the-clock bomber offensive against Germany. Big Week by bestselling author James Holland delves into this pivotal moment in World War II history with unmatched depth and intensity. This battle sought to cripple the main factories and production centres of the Luftwaffe while drawing the German fighter force into a decisive confrontation in the skies. Through a gripping, knife-edge narrative, Holland vividly portrays the drama and tension of this critical period, painting a blistering account of bomber versus flak gun and fighter against fighter.

As the largest air battle ever witnessed, Big Week offers readers a seat in the cockpits of the aircrafts flown by brave pilots and aircrew from both sides of the conflict. Holland's meticulous research shines through as he follows the fortunes of these individuals, capturing the heroism, strategy, and heart-stopping action that defined this monumental clash. The author masterfully brings to life the human stories behind the machines, offering a balanced perspective that encompasses the experiences of both Allied and German forces.

Acclaimed by BBC History as a master of his craft, James Holland brings an authoritative and compelling voice to this lesser-known chapter of WWII. Big Week stands as the only book of its kind on this battle, filling a significant gap in the historical record. Through Holland's detailed narrative, readers will gain a profound understanding of the scale and significance of this crucial showdown that aimed to end the air war once and for all.

Perfectly timed for the anniversary, Big Week is an essential addition to the library of any history enthusiast, offering a fresh and poignant insight into one of the most critical periods of the entire war, now brought to light with riveting storytelling and historical precision.
