This is one of the easiest-to-read, most exciting books on evolution of the past twenty years. It describes evolution happening before our eyes among the isolated bird populations of the Galapagos - the very finches observed by Darwin on his Beagle voyage - and its heroes are an unsung British couple. . . .

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

For all that has been said and written about it, evolution has always been — necessarily — theoretical, a matter of fossils demonstrating slow change over many millennia. But, for 20 years, in a continuing study, biologists Peter and Rosemary Grant have been observing the various species of finches on a tiny volcanic island in the Galapagos.

They now claim that they have actually seen evolution taking place before their eyes. The Beak Of The Finch tells the Grants' story, and describes how their findings have led scientists into further study of evolution.
