Bruce Wayne: Not Super by Stuart Gibbs, illustrated by Berat Pekmezci, introduces us to a world where 13-year-old Bruce Wayne attends an exclusive prep school for the gifted. However, in this context, "gifted" refers to kids with super-powers. Bruce is suddenly the least special person in his world and must learn to work with the talents he does have.

This title is a selection from the 2023 Best Graphic Novels for Children Reading List by the ALA Graphic Novels and Comics Roundtable.

For Bruce, attending Gotham Preparatory School for the Really, Really, Really Gifted is more than just academic pressure; it's the daily challenge of being the only kid without super-powers. He finds himself outmatched, unable to compete in races against the future Flash, swim meets against the future Aquaman, and even picked last for dodgeball. Winning the attention of the most popular girls at school, Diana Prince and Selina Kyle, seems equally out of reach.

Despite these challenges, Bruce has a goal: he wants to make a difference in the world. How can he achieve this without powers? While the Future-Supers are content to use their abilities to navigate school life and boost their popularity, Bruce is determined to discover if he has any gifts of his own and how to use them.

The real test arrives when Bruce finds out that fellow student Jack Napier, with the aid of the bully Bane, is extorting money from less powerful students, including the hapless Dick Grayson. When no one else steps forward, Bruce realises that he must be the one to stand up to them.
