Set in modern Australia, Daniella Murphy yearns to play rugby league, just like her brothers do, but time and time again the idea is rejected. Her grandma says no, her dad doesn't say anything, and the school bully just laughs in her face. But that doesn't stop her.

The First Tackle is an empowering sports story about a young girl trying to make her way in what some people still think is a "boy's" world. Daniella Murphy is going to play rugby; she just has to figure out how to prove to everyone that it doesn't matter if she's not a boyโ€”she can do it.

Determined to pursue her passion, she sets out to show that she's just as capable as the others, even when she's set back by an accident.
