E.C.R. LORAC was a penname of Edith Caroline Rivett (18941958), who also wrote as Carol Carnac. She was a member of the famous Detection Club and published over 60 novels from 19311959. Today, copies of her books are collector's items, though several of them can now be enjoyed as British Library Crime Classics.
