DescriptionPlaywright Holly Sherwin is on the brink of a breakthrough. With a grant to develop her new play, all she needs now is the perfect place to unlock her creativity. During a weekend getaway, Holly stumbles upon Hill House - an ornate yet decaying gothic mansion, almost hidden on the outskirts of a small, quiet town.
The allure of Hill House's mysterious charm beckons her, and soon, she gathers her troupe of actors, each carrying their own personal ghosts, for a creative retreat. The group's initial excitement quickly gives way to tension as they begin to experience the house’s strange and eerie presence.
As the days pass, the actors find themselves not only clashing with one another but also grappling with inexplicable phenomena that seem to stem from the very bones of Hill House. Shadows loom larger, whispers become louder, and the line between reality and nightmare blurs.
For something ancient and unseen has been biding its time within Hill House, waiting patiently through the years. And now, it is no longer content to walk alone.
A Haunting on the Hill by Elizabeth Hand weaves a chilling tale of suspense and supernatural terror. Hill House is a character in its own right, brought to life with Hand’s masterful prose, creating an atmosphere so thick and foreboding that readers will feel the weight of every creak and groan of this haunted mansion. Prepare to be captivated and unsettled as you turn each page, discovering the secrets that Hill House holds.
