The Mapmakers' Race
The Mapmakers' Race
A fresh and exciting mapmaking adventure.
" The Mapmakers' Race is an original adventure with buckets of character, written with an assured hand—and with wonderful maps which are central to the story." Julia Marshall, Publisher
The Mapmakers' Race follows Sal, Joe, Francie, and Humphrey as they misplace their famous mapmaker mother at the start of the Great Race. They must map a rail route through an uncharted wilderness. Having already lost their father on his last expedition, and with their finances depleted, this race becomes their last opportunity.
The children have twenty-eight days to find and map the best route. Along the way, they'll encounter challenges such as bears, bees, bats, river crossings, cliff falls, and impossible weather. Most daunting of all, they are competing against five teams of adults who refuse to play by the rules.
