This week's new releases include everything from a psychological thrillers, new additions to 2 different dark romance series, a punk-rock new middle grade graphic novel, beautiful cookbooks, and if you love history there's a couple new non-fiction titles that will be right up your alley.
For our crime and thriller fans, it's a good week with two new books to add to your TBR. The Nowhere Boy is a psychological thriller set here in Aotearoa when a 3 year old boy goes missing one day. We also have the new novella in the Housemaid series thanks to the thriller writing machine that is Freida McFadden. Both promise an unputdownable read! The Housemaid's Wedding is designed to fill in the long gap between The Housemaid's Secret, and The Housemaid is Watching! You can read it if you're between books, or if you've read them both.
Dark Romance readers are in for a treat with not one but two new books in two popular series. Restitution is Book 3 in Leigh Rivers' steamy and traumatic Edge of Darkness series, and we also have Depraved Desires, the finale to a wickedly dark duology. Both of these are not for the faint of heart!
For non-fiction readers, the renowned classicist Mary Beard is back to remind us all about why reading the classics and learning about classic civilization still matters in her new book, Talking Classics. Along a similar vein, Stuff the British Stole is a fun little globetrot through all the items the British Empire stole for their museums, written by podcaster, Marc Fennell. Julia Cameron (from The Artist's Way) has a new programe for living and self care, called The Prosperous Heart, and we have two new beautiful cookbooks, one about comfort food from a Palestinian American Home (I Sleep in My Kitchen) and one full of go-to dishes and helpful tips for weekly meal planning (Maxi's Kitchen).
Last but definitely not least, the bright blue new book in the amazing middle-grade graphic novel series, Violet and the Velvets is here! The Case of the Viral Video is book three in Rachael King's series and the band is facing down the Bandchamps competition together! This series is amazing because it's Kiwi, it's got a rock band in it as well as neurodivergent characters, and it's just a rollicking good time for kids and adults alike.
