One Love, One Life

WHEN legendary music journalist Billy Sloan was fifteen years old he saw The Who play an incendiary live show at Green's Playhouse in Glasgow.

Legendary music journalist Billy Sloan has been described as the John Peel of Scotland. He has interviewed musical icons and helped to launch the careers of huge international stars like Simple Minds and Lloyd Cole, all through his brilliant radio show and newspaper columns. Billed as "Scotland's No. 1 pop writer" in the era of Queen, Tina Turner, The Beatles and David Bowie, this is the story of four decades spent exploring the world with the most famous names in music, and how he helped take artists from obscurity to the bigtime.

October 21, 1971. Billy Sloan's first ever rock concert, and a life changing moment. The impact of seeing The Who within reach was a feeling he had never experienced before. Until then, they had simply been pictures pinned up on a bedroom wall but were soon followed by a drawer filled with tickets to see gigs by Queen, Roxy Music, The Faces, The Jacksons, Alex Harvey and many more.

Then in 1983, when the biggest selling newspaper in Scotland decided to hire someone specifically to cover stories about "guys with long hair who play the guitar", Billy opened the door to an incredible musical journey that continues to this day.

From interviewing a naked Grace Jones in a bath in Milan and noising up Johnny Cash, to unveiling a secret plan for Tom Jones and Elvis Presley to join The Beatles, Billy has seen more than his fair share of antics and is ready to tell the story. Despite being poignant, humorous and at times downright bizarre, every single word of this incredible story is true.

One Love, One Life is a testament to Billy's extraordinary career and his undying passion for music.
