Rome's Sacred Flame

Rome's Sacred Flame transports readers to Rome, AD 63, where Vespasian has been appointed Governor of Africa. The volatile Emperor Nero, increasingly unpredictable, orders Vespasian to journey with his most trusted men to a distant empire in Africa. Their mission is to liberate 500 Roman citizens who have been enslaved by a desert kingdom. Vespasian hopes that by negotiating their emancipation, he will return to Rome a hero and regain favour with Nero.

Upon reaching the city, Vespasian is met with a slave population teetering on the brink of revolt. Without an army to control the populace, it’s only a matter of time before tensions erupt into violent chaos. Vespasian faces the daunting task of escaping the city with all 500 Roman citizens. Their journey takes them across a desolate desert, where they battle thirst, exhaustion, and a relentless horde of rebels. It becomes a desperate race for survival, filled with unexpected twists and relentless challenges.

Meanwhile, in the heart of Rome, Nero’s unbridled extravagance knows no bounds. The city’s elite are living in fear as those closest to Nero indulge in unchecked excess. The question looms: can anyone halt the Emperor before Rome consumes itself? And if Nero is to be dethroned, who will dare place their head in the lion’s mouth?
