Perfect for fans of Travis Baldree and TJ Klune, The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst is a cosy fantasy tale intertwined with stolen spellbooks, unexpected friendships, sweet jams, and even sweeter romance.

The Spellshop follows Kiela, a reclusive librarian at the Great Library of Alyssium, who has always found solace among the ancient tomes and spellbooks in her care. With her loyal assistant, Caz—a sentient spider plant—by her side, she has spent years avoiding human interaction, dedicating her life to the preservation and protection of magical knowledge for the city's elite. However, the peace is shattered when a blooming revolution sets the library ablaze. Forced to flee, Kiela and Caz abscond with the remaining spellbooks to a distant island where she once found solace.

Upon her return, Kiela hopes to find tranquillity, but she is met with disruption and decay. The empire's relentless exploitation has left the island impoverished and neglected, draining it of its magical and natural resources. Adding to her distress is a persistent and charming neighbour who ignites feelings she thought she had buried forever.

Determined to restore balance, Kiela decides to open a spellshop, offering magic to those who need it most. But this decision comes with grave risks—the penalty for bestowing magical knowledge upon commoners is death. As Kiela integrates herself into the community, forging new relationships and rekindling old ones, she realises that in order to heal the island, she must first overcome the barriers she has placed around her own heart.

From the award-winning author Sarah Beth Durst, The Spellshop is an enchanting blend of cottagecore aesthetics and cosy fantasy. It delves into the intricacies of a woman’s unexpected journey through the low-stakes market of illegal spell-selling, and the high-stakes undertaking of starting over.

Book Riot hails, "Sarah Beth Durst is the hidden gem of the fantasy world."

Step into a world where every home could use a touch of magic, and discover how the bonds of friendship and love can transform lives in the most unexpected ways.
