Wawata - Moon Dreaming by Dr Hinemoa Elder invites readers on a transformative journey through the ancient wisdom of the Māori lunar calendar. This deeply insightful book introduces you to Hina, the Māori moon goddess, who reveals a different face each night of the month, bringing with her unique energies and lessons. Dr Elder, known for her bestselling work Aroha, intricately weaves the spiritual significance of these lunar phases into a guide for enhancing intimacy within ourselves, our relationships, and with the natural world.

As you progress through the text, you are gently led through a full moon cycle, exploring 30 distinct aspects of life. Each chapter delves into the teachings and energies represented by a specific phase of the moon, offering new perspectives and insights. The Māori elders' ancient knowledge comes forward to meet you in your everyday life, providing a rich source of strength and resilience. This reconnection to ancestral wisdom reveals how each lunar phase can bring profound understanding and healing to our modern, often disconnected, existence.

In a time where the isolation from successive lockdowns has highlighted the importance of connection and community, Wawata - Moon Dreaming serves as a reminder of the deeper relationships we can nurture. Through the moon's guiding light, Dr Elder inspires readers to uncover layers of personal growth, address blind spots, and achieve a soulful harmony. The cyclical nature of the moon’s phases mirrors the recurring lessons in our lives, encouraging an ongoing journey of self-awareness and release.

This book is a careful blend of science, spirituality, and personal storytelling. Dr Elder shares her own experiences and those of her ancestors, making the content relatable and deeply moving. By engaging with the moon’s different faces, readers are provided the space to dream, to heal, and to find a renewed sense of freedom and purpose.

Wawata - Moon Dreaming is not just a reading experience but a spiritual practice, designed to open up your 'moon dreams' and foster a deeper affectionate connection with yourself and others. Whether you are seeking to strengthen your cultural knowledge, develop personal insights, or simply enjoy a beautifully crafted narrative, this book offers a sanctuary of wisdom and love.
