Letters to a Young Poet
What matters is to live everything. Live the questions for now.' This title features profound and lyrical letters the author wrote to a young friend with advise on writing, love, sex, suffering and the nature of advice itself.
The poet Rilke's lyrical and life-changing advice to an aspiring young writer is among the most inspiring expressions of youthful creativity there has ever been.
Letters to a Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke is a timeless collection of ten letters written to a young military cadet named Franz Xaver Kappus. The correspondence, which took place between 1903 and 1908, addresses the profound questions of life, art, and the creative process. Rilke, a seasoned poet, provides heartfelt advice and deep reflections that guide Kappus—and subsequently every reader—through the challenges of artistic life and personal growth.
In these poetic and philosophical letters, Rilke offers insights into topics such as the importance of solitude, the necessity of self-discovery, and the value of embracing life's uncertainties. He encourages Kappus to live the questions, suggesting that finding meaning is an evolving journey rather than a definitive answer. This serves as a source of comfort and inspiration, urging the young poet to persist despite doubt and fear.
