In Berserk Volume 7, the epic saga continues to unfold amidst the backdrop of a brutal and unending war between two feudal kingdoms—Midland and Chuder. As these formidable nations vie for supremacy, their conflict reaches a pivotal moment in a war that has raged for a century. At the heart of Midland's military might is the Band of the Hawk, a renowned and fearsome group of mercenaries led by the enigmatic and charismatic Griffith.

The Band of the Hawk is known for its unmatched ferocity, courage, and martial prowess, making them indispensable allies to Midland in their quest for victory. Amongst their ranks is Guts, the fearless and indomitable berserker champion, whose skills and gigantic broadsword play a significant role in altering the tides of the battle.

However, the story takes an unexpected turn when Guts, along with Griffith's most trusted lieutenant, Casca, plummets from a cliff into the treacherous waters of a raging river during the heat of battle. Against all odds, they survive, and in the aftermath, Guts tends to Casca's wounds. During this time, she shares the poignant story of her past, recounting how Griffith saved her life and how she was inducted into the Band of the Hawk. Her narrative reveals her complicated feelings towards Griffith and hints at a warming relationship with the typically stoic Guts.

Yet, amidst these moments of vulnerability and burgeoning trust, danger lurks ominously as Chuder warriors are close at hand, their intentions as sharp as their spears. Berserk Volume 7 delves deep into the themes of loyalty, friendship, and the relentless pursuit of power, all set against a richly detailed and perilous medieval world. Readers will be captivated by the intense and dramatic storytelling of Kentaro Miura, where the line between friend and foe is constantly blurred. This volume continues to capture the raw and visceral energy of the series, leaving fans eagerly turning the pages.

About the Author

While attending college at Nihon University, in 1988, Kentaro Miura debuted a 48-page manga known as Berserk Prototype, an introduction to the current Berserk fantasy world. It went on to win Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School. In 1989, after receiving a doctorate degree, Kentarou started a project titled King of Wolves based on a script by Buronson, writer of Hokuto no Ken (Fist Of The North Star). In 1990, the first volume Berserk was released with a relatively limited success. Miura again collaborated with Buronson on manga entitled Japan. Miura's fame grew after Berserk began "The Golden Age" story arc and the huge success of this masterpiece made of him one of the most prominent contemporary manga artists. In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of Berserk that aired in the same year on NTV. The series has also spawned a whole host of merchandise, both official and fan made, ranging from statues and action figures, to key rings, video games, and a trading card game. In 2002, Kentaro Miura received the second place in the Tezuka Osamu (Astro Boy) Cultural Prize of Excellence for Berserk. The author lives in Tokyo, Japan.
