Berserk Volume 14
In the first battle, the Invocation of Doom not only shatters the Hawks, but also the hand of their champion, Guts, and the mind of Guts' lover, Casca. While time may heal some of Guts' wounds, it will not heal his desire for vengeance. And his discovery of a dragon-slaying sword might be just the ticket to deal out some payback.

DescriptionIn Berserk Volume 14, the once-mighty Band of the Hawk faces devastation in the aftermath of betrayal and supernatural intrigue. Their charismatic leader, Griffith, succumbs to ambition's darker allure, forging a sinister pact with the enigmatic demon lords of the Godhand. This unholy alliance demands a gruesome sacrifice: the lives of his own devoted soldiers, offered to usher Griffith's rise to hellish power and restore his broken form.
As the Invocation of Doom rains a nightmarish torrent of horror across the world, the once-unshakeable camaraderie and strength of the Hawks disintegrate. The first cataclysmic clash leaves lasting scars, fracturing the body of Guts, their valiant champion, and shattering the mind of Casca, their compassionate captain and Guts' beloved companion. While time offers scant solace for Guts' physical injuries, his soul smoulders with a relentless fury, yearning for retribution against the forces that have wronged him and those he cherished.
Armed with a newfound weapon of awe-inspiring might—an enormous sword said to slay dragons—Guts embarks on a perilous journey of vengeance. His resolve steeled, he seeks to harness this weapon to deliver fierce justice upon the malevolent entities that tore his life asunder.

About the Author
While attending college at Nihon University, in 1988, Kentaro Miura debuted a 48-page manga known as Berserk Prototype, an introduction to the current Berserk fantasy world. It went on to win Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School. In 1989, after receiving a doctorate degree, Kentarou started a project titled King of Wolves based on a script by Buronson, writer of Hokuto no Ken (Fist Of The North Star). In 1990, the first volume Berserk was released with a relatively limited success. Miura again collaborated with Buronson on manga entitled Japan. Miura's fame grew after Berserk began "The Golden Age" story arc and the huge success of this masterpiece made of him one of the most prominent contemporary manga artists. In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of Berserk that aired in the same year on NTV. The series has also spawned a whole host of merchandise, both official and fan made, ranging from statues and action figures, to key rings, video games, and a trading card game. In 2002, Kentaro Miura received the second place in the Tezuka Osamu (Astro Boy) Cultural Prize of Excellence for Berserk. The author lives in Tokyo, Japan.
