In Berserk Volume 11, Kentaro Miura crafts an intense narrative filled with danger, loyalty, and the fight for survival. As the remnants of the infamous Band of the Hawk flee through the perilous landscape, they remain haunted by the spectres of their past glory and their current desperation. Guts and Casca, steadfast survivors of many a brutal battle, have successfully liberated their leader, Griffith, from the unspeakable horrors of King Midland's dungeons. Yet, freedom comes at a harrowing cost.

Griffith, once a charismatic and indomitable force, is now a shadow of his former self. Starved and mercilessly tortured, his body bears the scars of his grim imprisonment. With his spirit hanging by a fragile thread, his ability to lead is severely compromised, making the Band's plight even more perilous. As they navigate these treacherous waters, the bonds of their brotherhood are put to an unprecedented test.

The Hawks, now a shadow of their formidable past, face an even graver threat. The relentless forces of the King's army are on their trail, determined to capture Griffith who is blamed for his ill-fated liaison with the King's daughter. Their greatest challenge comes in the form of the Knights of the Black Dog, a fearsome contingent led by Wyald, a ruthless and primal warrior whose ferocity knows no bounds. About the Author

While attending college at Nihon University, in 1988, Kentaro Miura debuted a 48-page manga known as Berserk Prototype, an introduction to the current Berserk fantasy world. It went on to win Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School. In 1989, after receiving a doctorate degree, Kentarou started a project titled King of Wolves based on a script by Buronson, writer of Hokuto no Ken (Fist Of The North Star). In 1990, the first volume Berserk was released with a relatively limited success. Miura again collaborated with Buronson on manga entitled Japan. Miura's fame grew after Berserk began "The Golden Age" story arc and the huge success of this masterpiece made of him one of the most prominent contemporary manga artists. In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of Berserk that aired in the same year on NTV. The series has also spawned a whole host of merchandise, both official and fan made, ranging from statues and action figures, to key rings, video games, and a trading card game. In 2002, Kentaro Miura received the second place in the Tezuka Osamu (Astro Boy) Cultural Prize of Excellence for Berserk. The author lives in Tokyo, Japan.
