Embark on a poignant journey through time with Tales from the Cafe, the enchanting sequel in Toshikazu Kawaguchi's million-copy bestselling series. Tucked away in a quaint Tokyo alley, a mysterious cafe offers more than just a finely brewed cup of coffee—it presents its patrons with the extraordinary opportunity to travel back in time. Bound by a handful of peculiar rules, this unique experience invites its visitors to revisit past moments, weaving a tapestry of hope, nostalgia, and reflection.

In this evocative tale translated from Japanese by Geoffrey Trousselot, we are introduced to four individuals, each harbouring a deep-seated longing to reconcile with their past. As the author once more captivates readers with his simple yet profound narratives, the story unfolds around our new patrons of Cafe Funiculi Funicula:

The man who wishes to reconnect with his best friend, lost to him 22 years in the past; the son, burdened by guilt for missing his own mother's funeral, hoping to have one final moment with her; the man whose heart aches for the girl he was never destined to marry; and the old detective who yearns to gift his wife with the present he never managed to deliver.

Tales from the Cafe invites readers to ponder the age-old question: what would you do if you could turn back the hands of time? More importantly, which moments and relationships would you choose to revisit? As characters navigate their intricate emotions and bygone connections, they are gently compelled to confront their pasts, seeking solace and closure to step confidently into their futures.

Kawaguchi's narrative is a heartwarming exploration of how moments once lost can be recaptured, offering not only a glimpse into the realm of human emotion but also a reminder of the importance of understanding and forgiveness. For those touched by the series, the story seamlessly continues with the follow-ups Before Your Memory Fades and Before We Say Goodbye. Fans eagerly anticipating more can look forward to the upcoming installment, Before We Forget Kindness, now available for pre-order.
