Assassin’s Quest
‘Fantasy as it ought to be written’ George R.R. Martin The gripping finale to Robin Hobb’s classic Farseer Trilogy.
Assassin’s Quest by Robin Hobb brings to a close the remarkable Farseer Trilogy, a series hailed as a landmark in modern fantasy literature.
The story unfolds with FitzChivalry Farseer, believed to be dead by all who cared for him, grappling with the physical and emotional scars inflicted by Prince Regal's brutal torture. His bond with his wolf, Nighteyes, remains his strongest link to life. Alone and with nothing left to lose, Fitz embarks on a perilous journey to Tradeford, the heart of Regal's newfound dominion.
Prince Regal, having seized the throne in the wake of King Shrewd's murder and the mysterious disappearance of the rightful heir, Verity, rules with a cruel and selfish hand. The northern regions of the kingdom are left defenceless against the relentless Red-Ship Raiders, abandoned to their fate while Regal consolidates his power. Amidst this chaos, Fitz's sole purpose is starkly clear: he must assassinate the tyrant who has shattered his world and tarnished the realm.
While Fitz's quest for vengeance drives him forward, internal conflicts and his burgeoning Skill - a form of magical ability - challenge his resolve. He faces betrayals, encounters complex political intrigues, and struggles with the pull of his deepening bond to Nighteyes. Each step towards Regal brings Fitz closer to confronting both his destiny and the ghosts of his past.
Robin Hobb masterfully crafts a narrative that balances rich character development with high-stakes adventure. The intricate worldbuilding, combined with the profound themes of loyalty, identity, and sacrifice, ensures that Assassin’s Quest is not just a conclusion to a trilogy but a profound journey that echoes long after the final page is turned.
George R.R. Martin rightly praises, “Fantasy as it ought to be written.” Prepare to immerse yourself in a gripping tale that challenges the very notions of heroism and destiny.

About the Author
Robin Hobb is one of the world's finest writers of epic fiction. She was born in California in 1952 but raised in Alaska, where she learned how to raise a wolf cub, to skin a moose and to survive in the wilderness. When she married a fisherman who fished herring and the Kodiak salmon-run for half the year, these skills would stand her in good stead. She raised her family, ran a smallholding, delivered post to her remote community, all at the same time as writing stories and novels. She succeeded on all fronts, raising four children and becoming an internationally best-selling writer. She lives in Tacoma, Washington State.
