The Twits Next Door
The Twits Next Door
The Twits Next Door by Greg James and Chris Smith is a wickedly funny and prank-filled adventure that captures the essence of Roald Dahl's beloved creation, The Twits. This brand-new and deliciously revolting story is brilliantly brought to life by the internationally bestselling duo, who are also well-known children's literacy advocates. The book features delightful illustrations by Emily Jones that add an extra layer of charm to this uproarious tale.
Mr and Mrs Twit are a pair of the most repulsive and wicked individuals imaginable. Their only joy in life comes from playing horribly mean pranks on each other and on anyone unlucky enough to cross their path. They live in a dilapidated house filled with all manner of unpleasant surprises.
But everything changes when a new family, the Lovelies, moves in next door. The Lovelies consist of two exceptionally nice parents and their lively 10-year-old twins. These new neighbours are the embodiment of goodness and cheerfulness, a stark contrast to the malevolent Twits. Naturally, this infuriates Mr and Mrs Twit, who decide to go to great lengths to rid themselves of these wonderfully nice new neighbours.
The Lovelies, however, are not so easily intimidated. Equipped with their own brand of "utter loveliness" and some clever tricks up their sleeves, the Lovelies begin to fight back against the Twits' nasty plans. What ensues is an entertaining battle of wits and pranks, leading to hilarious and surprising outcomes.
As the Twits and the Lovelies engage in their ongoing feud, readers will be treated to a story filled with humour, mischief, and valuable lessons about kindness and standing up against bullies. The book smartly balances its outrageous antics with heartwarming moments, ensuring an engaging read for children and adults alike.
The Twits Next Door is a rollicking adventure that brings back the classic characters in a fresh new setting. It's a must-read for fans of Roald Dahl and anyone who enjoys a good laugh with a side of heart.

Emily Jones (Illustrator) Emily Jones wanted to illustrate children's books for a living immediately after reading 'I want my potty' by Tony Ross. It's been a little while since that pivotal moment in Jarrow library aged 7 but she has finally achieved it.
