Discover how different animals go to sleep in this rhyming picture book from a veteran children's author!

Follow along as three children learn about the bedtime routines of squirrels, parrots, dolphins, and many more. Meerkats sleep in a stack. Is that how these kids go to sleep? Or do they hibernate in snow all winter long like frogs? Or maybe they sleep the day away like skunks? No, that can't be right!

By the book's conclusion, the kids have imitated all kinds of animals who are portrayed sleeping in their natural habitats, thanks to Sydney Hanson's charming illustrations. Readers will recognise the way the human child eventually goes to sleepβ€” with stuffed animals, a bedtime story, and a kiss good night!

About the Author

Kate McMullan is the author of many books for young readers, including How Do You Take a Bath? with Sydney Hanson; I Stink!, winner of the Boston Globe-Horn Book Honor, and I'm Mighty! with her husband, noted illustrator Jim McMullan; and Meg's Prairie Diary, a historical fiction trilogy set in St. Louis and Kansas in 1856. She has been fascinated by the Lewis and Clark Expedition since the age of ten, when an uncle told her about an ancestor who had gone on the expedition. That ancestor was sixteen-year-old George Shannon. Kate lives in New York City and Sag Harbor, New York, with her husband. Sydney Hanson is the New York Times bestselling illustrator of Why a Daughter Needs a Dad by Gregory Lane, and has also illustrated How Do You Take a Bath? by Kate McMullan, Panda Pants by Jacqueline Davies, and Rise and Shine by Raffi. Sydney was raised in Minnesota alongside numerous pets, and her illustrations and paintings still reflect a love for animals and the natural world. In addition to her book illustrations, Sydney is an experienced 2-D and 3-D production artist who has worked for several animation companies, including Nickelodeon and Disney Interactive.
