Azzi In Between
A haunting story of a family's flight from danger to a new life in a new country.
Azzi In Between tells the story of Azzi and her parents who are in danger and must leave their home. Embarking on a frightening journey by car and boat, they seek refuge in another country.
In their new country, Azzi and her family face the challenges of learning a new language, finding a place to live, and starting at a new school. With the help of a kind assistant at the school, Azzi starts to learn English and realises she is not the only one who has had to flee her home.
She makes a new friend and, with courage and resourcefulness, begins to adapt to her new life. However, Azzi misses her grandma, who has been left behind, more than anything. The question remains: Will Azzi ever see her grandma again?
Renowned author and illustrator Sarah Garland, drawing on her own experiences of working among refugee families, tells this story with tenderness and humour. It is an exciting adventure suitable for readers of all ages. This book is endorsed by Amnesty International.
