About Book Hero

Book Hero is an independent online bookstore based in Auckland. We believe books are a secret super power and we’re on a mission to help more New Zealanders rediscover a love for books and reading! 

We're a bookstore run by technology people, so we've tried Kindles, iPads and everything in between. But we believe nothing comes close to a physical book. That new book smell, the feel of the paper between your fingers, the conversations great books spark when they're proudly displayed on a bookshelf. 

In the modern age of screen addiction and shortened attention spans, books are a timely reminder of the peace and joy that can be found simply by slowing down and engaging the power of our own imaginations. Books make you smarter, happier, more relaxed, more informed and a more interesting person to be around. In 2025 we think the world needs much more of all those things...

We're a locally owned bookstore with a difference. We hold over 80,000 amazing books in-stock in our Auckland warehouse and our hardworking Warehouse Heroes ensure we deliver online orders overnight anywhere in New Zealand. Our cosy bookshop is right next door to our warehouse, which means Auckland customers have the option to Pick Up their orders whilst also browsing our curated range of best selling titles. Order online or pay over the counter - this choice is yours. We're located at 8/4 Rawiri Place, Hobsonville, Auckland - we have plenty of customer parking out front, come say hello!

We're an online store is built around a super-efficient warehouse that’s optimised for storing thousands of books and dispatching to customers fast. Our warehouse is right next door to our Hobsonville bookshop, which means Auckland customers can choose free Pick Ups and say hello while collecting their orders!

We're not a chain store or big box retailer! We're a small group of passionate and creative friends who've come together to create a new way for Kiwis to buy books in an online environment. We stand behind all the books we sell and the service we provide. If you're not happy with your book or the service you've received - let us know, and we'll make it right for you!

Our small but growing team of Heroes are here to share our love reading, make our customers happy, create new things and express ourselves individually through our work. We all love books and reading, but each of us brings a unique skillset to Book Hero from title selection, software development, online marketing, social media, warehouse logistics and customer service. We're a unique bunch of booksellers and we love discovering what we can achieve together for our customers!

Book Hero opened in October 2024 and so far we've shipped over 50,000 orders to thousands of happy customers - but we're just getting started! Our intentions in 2025 is to further grow our range of in-stock books that can be delivered overnight anywhere in New Zealand, and to make it easier to browse and discover new books to read on our website. There are so many amazing books in the world and we can't wait to bring them to you. Thanks for being part of our journey 🚀
