The October Girl: Book One

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description
A moody, coming-of-age tale for fans of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and Nimona, filled with fairies and ogres and magic galore.

The October Girl: Book One follows Autumn Ackerman, who grew up believing in fairies, magic, and princesses who defeated dragons. Now eighteen, with a future that seems confined behind the counter of her small town’s coffee shop, she begins to wonder if this is all there is to her life.

But everything changes one night when she encounters her childhood imaginary friend, Barnaby, in the alley behind the coffee shop. Autumn’s whole world is turned upside down.

She is drawn into the strange and mysterious world of the Night Folk, fantastic creatures that inspired all of humanity’s myths about gods and monsters. Autumn is about to discover her world is much more than she ever dreamed as a little girl and far more dangerous than she could ever have imagined.

With Barnaby's help and the guidance of Evan Fade, the tragic young man who inherited the local bookstore, Autumn must protect herself from the coldly terrifying Mr. Balloon. She has to uncover the truth about the Night Folk and her own past before it's too late.
