Sunrise on the Reaping (The Hunger Games)

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

As the day dawns on the fiftieth annual Hunger Games, fear grips the districts of Panem. This year, in honour of the Quarter Quell, twice as many tributes will be taken from their homes.

Back in District 12, Haymitch Abernathy is trying not to think too hard about his chances. All he cares about is making it through the day and being with the girl he loves. When Haymitch’s name is called, he can feel all his dreams break. He’s torn from his family and his love, shuttled to the Capitol with the three other District 12 tributes: a young friend who’s nearly a sister to him, a compulsive oddsmaker, and the most stuck-up girl in town.

As the Games begin, Haymitch understands he’s been set up to fail. But there’s something in him that wants to fight... and have that fight reverberate far beyond the deadly arena.

Sunrise on the Reaping (The Hunger Games) by Suzanne Collins explores the inner battles of Haymitch and the forces that threaten to tear him apart, while he strives to find hope amidst despair in a brutal world.

Turns Out I Was Not Ready for This

Absolutely stunning - one of the BEST IN THE SERIES!! Sunrise on the Reaping is a masterfully crafted addition to the Hunger Games universe that left me completely wrecked—in the best way possible. I devoured it in just two days, unable to put it down. The story is rich, emotional, and ties in beautifully with the rest of the series.

What truly stood out was the incredible depth it gave to Haymitch. Already a complex and layered character, this book peels back even more of his story, revealing the heartbreak and resilience beneath the surface. I cried more times than I can count—every page was steeped in emotion and meaning.

Suzanne Collins proves once again that she knows exactly how to draw readers in and break their hearts in the most thoughtful, poignant way. An absolute must-read!!

More Like Sunrise on the WEEPING

OMG. Suzanne Collins delivers ONCE AGAIN!!! I can't say too much without spoilers but if you're a Hunger Games fan, this is the prequel we didn't know we deserved. Haymitch's story is honestly the saddest in the whole series and this prequel really ties the entire series together from the original trilogy to Ballad as well. I finished this book just two days after it released and I can already feel the vibes that the movie is going to live up to the Catching Fire high I've been chasing since 2013!! MUST READ!
