Under Their Roof

Under Their Roof tells the harrowing tale of Kathleen Richards, who was just 17 when she and her sister, Deirdre, found themselves at the doorstep of 25 Cromwell Street, Gloucester. They were seeking lodgings from a seemingly friendly local couple: Fred and Rose West.

While growing up in poverty-stricken Dublin in the 1960s, Kathleen experienced abuse from a young age. A move to England allowed her to escape, but life remained difficult, forcing her to seek refuge.

At first, Cromwell Street provided a sense of freedom for the sisters, entertained by Fred's quirky behaviour and endless DIY projects. Kathleen also found happiness in forming a new friendship with her fellow lodger, Shirley Robinson.

However, things took a sinister turn when Fred started to abuse Kathleen with his wife's encouragement. The situation became even darker when Shirley suddenly disappeared, causing Kathleen's world to spiral into darkness.

This chilling account offers a glimpse into the terrifying reality of encountering Britain's most notorious serial killers. Yet, it also serves as an inspiring testament to the resilience of women and the pursuit of happiness following trauma.
