The publication showcases two bodies of work: \u003cem\u003eYou and I\u003c\/em\u003e (2024) and \u003cem\u003eExclamations!\u003c\/em\u003e (2023). Both series present small paintings corresponding to each letter of the alphabet, with the peculiar omission of the letters U and I in the series \u003cem\u003eYou and I\u003c\/em\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe artist's initial concept centred around the idea of visitors to an imaginary exhibition. Who are these visitors? What kinds of people are they, and what thoughts might occupy their minds? These reflections are explored in a text by celebrated Birmingham-based author Catherine O'Flynn. This piece of creative writing was commissioned especially for the publication, alongside a foreword by Deborah Kermode, Chief Executive and Artistic Director of Midlands Arts Centre (MAC), Birmingham, and an interview by London-based creative coach, podcaster, and public speaker Ceri Hand.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eBorn in Birmingham (UK) in 1977, where he continues to live and work, Ben Sadler studied at the Ruskin School of Art, Oxford, and the Royal College of Art, London.
