In 1959, he went to study printmaking at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, where he was introduced to Chinese woodcut and watercolor techniques. He pursued his studies in printmaking at the Gravura in Lisbon, Portugal, returning to Baghdad to open the Graphic Arts Department at the Institute of Fine Arts in 1974 and Nasiri Graphic Studio in 1987. After the Gulf war of 1991, he left for Amman, continuing his life and work in exile.
